Freedom, OK

Freedom is a small, quiet community set along the Cimarron River in northwestern Oklahoma, roughly 25 miles west of Alva. Surrounded by open red plains and rugged ranchland, it offers a peaceful lifestyle with deep roots in Western heritage. The town also sits right near Alabaster Caverns State Park, giving locals quick access to scenic hiking trails, camping spots, and gypsum caves.

Every August, the community gathers for the Freedom Rodeo and Old Cowhand Reunion, a tradition running since 1938 that features rodeo events and a classic Saturday chuckwagon feed. Day-to-day life mostly revolves around cattle ranching, agriculture, and a long-standing Cargill salt plant just down the road. It is a tight-knit place that offers open horizons, friendly neighbors, and an authentic rural Oklahoma experience.
