Fremont, NE

Fremont is an eastern Nebraska city northwest of Omaha, set near the Platte River and shaped by transportation from its early years. The Mormon Trail passed nearby along the north bank of the Platte, and the city later grew with railroads, agriculture, and regional trade. Midland University gives Fremont a college presence, while the May Historical Museum preserves local history in the 1874 home of the city's first mayor, Theron Nye.
