About Galesburg

Galesburg is a historic city and the county seat of Knox County, Illinois, situated forty-five miles northwest of Peoria. Established in 1837, the community of approximately 29,500 is home to Knox College, a private liberal arts institution, and Carl Sandburg College, named after the famous native-born poet. The city features a well-preserved historic district on the National Register of Historic Places and is served by Galesburg Community Unit School District 205.
