Garden Grove, CA

Garden Grove has an unusual footprint, stretching east to west across northern Orange County with pockets that each have their own personality. On the east side, you are right next to the Disneyland resort area, packed with modern hotels and restaurants along Harbor Boulevard. Head west along Garden Grove Boulevard, and you will run into the city's vibrant dining hubs, including parts of Little Saigon and Orange County's original Koreatown, filled with noodle shops, bakeries, and family-owned markets. Meanwhile, West Garden Grove sits off on its own past Stanton, offering quiet, tree-lined residential streets with a relaxed suburban feel.

The area grew from a quiet farming community into a classic postwar suburb, but you can still find plenty of vintage character in the city center. Historic Main Street and the nearby Village Green park serve as a nostalgic anchor for the community. You can catch a live play at the historic Gem Theatre, an old 1920s venue, or head to the open-air Garden Amp for weekend concerts and tribute bands. It provides a walkable neighborhood gathering spot right in the middle of town.

Day-to-day life here revolves heavily around food, commerce, and easy regional connections. Many residents work locally in healthcare, light manufacturing, education, or the busy hospitality sector anchored by the Grove District. Others take advantage of the 22 and 405 freeways for quick commutes across Orange County and into Long Beach or Los Angeles. For dining and shopping, you never have to travel far, with endless options for authentic Vietnamese pho, Korean barbecue, and classic California diners within minutes of home.

Every Memorial Day weekend, the whole community gathers around Village Green for the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival. Founded in 1958 back when strawberry fields covered the local landscape, the festival remains one of the largest community events in the region, complete with parades, carnival rides, and free strawberry shortcake. It is a long-standing tradition that brings together neighbors from every corner of town. For newcomers, Garden Grove offers an energetic mix of rich cultural food scenes, quiet residential pockets, and central access to everything Orange County has to offer.
