About Garfield

Garfield is a quiet farming community in southern New Mexico’s Hatch Valley, located about ten miles north of Hatch along Highway 187. Home to around 130 residents, life here centers on wide-open spaces, pecan orchards, and green chile fields near the Rio Grande. Younger kids have Garfield Elementary right in town, while older students make the short trip south along the historic Camino Real corridor into Hatch for middle and high school.
