Garland, NE

Garland got its start in the 1870s as a railroad stop originally called Germantown. Like many small farming towns in eastern Nebraska, the community quickly took shape along the tracks with local shops, grain elevators, and cozy homes. The original name lasted until World War I, when residents chose to rename the village in honor of Raymond Garland, a local soldier who lost his life serving overseas.
