Gasquet, CA

Gasquet is a small mountain community tucked along US Highway 199, about 18 miles inland from Crescent City and 20 miles south of the Oregon border. Set directly along the Middle Fork of the Smith River, the community sits inside the Smith River National Recreation Area, surrounded by rugged forested hills. Because it sits inland, Gasquet often escapes the heavy coastal fog and enjoys warm, sunny summers, making its crystal-clear emerald waters a prime destination for swimming, kayaking, and world-class salmon fishing.

Daily life here is quiet, relaxed, and deeply connected to the outdoors. The town itself is small and peaceful, centered around a local market, a post office, and a historic 1930s Forest Service ranger station. Residents enjoy a tight-knit rural setting with endless trails and backcountry roads right out their back door, while full-service grocery stores, healthcare, and Pacific beaches are just an easy 20-minute drive down the highway into Crescent City.
