About Gillett

Gillett is an Oconto County city in the Green Bay metro with a history that runs on rail, timber-country roads, and outdoor trails. A post office has been operating since 1871, and the railroad from Oconto to Clintonville brought rapid growth after it was completed in 1884. Gillett incorporated as a village in 1900 and became a city in 1944. Main Street's older buildings and the former depot give the center a visible link to that railroad era.

Today Gillett leans into its trail-town side. Gillett Sno & ATV Riders maintain more than 15 miles of trails through the city and nearby towns, while city parks, Zippel Park, a sports complex, and the surrounding Oconto County forest system fill out the outdoor map. Gillett School District runs the K–12 schools, and local police, fire, medical, and city services keep daily life organized. Green Bay is the larger regional pull, but Gillett has its own pattern: a small city, a rail past, a full school system, and a road network built for people who arrive with bikes, ATVs, or a reason to stay awhile.
