About Gillette
Gillette is the county seat of Campbell County and one of northeastern Wyoming's main regional centers. Founded in 1891 as a Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad town, it grew from a place once called Donkey Town near Donkey Creek into a major service hub. Gillette is closely tied to the Powder River Basin energy economy, while also supporting regional media, education, health care, and arts. The Donkey Creek Festival at Gillette College gives the city a local cultural marker beyond its industrial reputation.
