Gillsville, GA

Gillsville stretches across Hall and Banks counties in northeast Georgia, a small town whose borders cross a county line while its daily life follows the same roads and pottery traditions. Its beginnings go back to a settlement called Stonethrow, later Carters Crossing; the name Gillsville came from Major Josiah Gill, whose general store helped define the place. The post office dates to 1833, making Gillsville one of Hall County's oldest settlements, and the city charter came in 1901.
