Glen Allan, MS

Nestled along the southern edge of Lake Washington, Glen Allan is a quiet Mississippi Delta community of around 300 residents. Life here naturally revolves around the water. The oxbow lake is known for its mossy cypress trees, easy boat access, and excellent crappie and bream fishing. Neighbors and visitors often spend weekends outdoors at Paul Love Jr. Park, which offers campsites, a ball field, and shaded picnic spots right along the shoreline. Local students are served by the Western Line School District.

The area also carries a rich sense of Delta history. Settled in the 1820s, Glen Allan sits near historic landmarks like the Linden estate and has deep ties to Southern storytelling and music. It is the hometown of acclaimed author Clifton Taulbert as well as blues musicians Robert Lee “Smokey” Wilson and Keith Johnson. With its scenic waters and relaxed pace, Glen Allan offers a tranquil, close-knit corner of rural Mississippi.
