Glen Rock, NJ

Rock Road's central business district fills the short corridor between Glen Rock's two NJ Transit stations. Boro Hall station at Harding Plaza and Main Line station near Main Street serve separate branches of the Main-Bergen County network; the 2026 timetable shows connections through Secaucus to New York and direct service to Hoboken. Two-story shops and offices line the district alongside Borough Hall and the public library. The borough spans 2.70 square miles and had 12,133 residents in 2020. It incorporated in 1894, but its name reaches much further back. At Rock Road's north end, a 570-ton glacial boulder served as a signal-fire base and travel landmark; New Jersey designated it an official landmark in 1964. Recreation broadens that rail-and-shopping core. The Thielke Arboretum is a dawn-to-dusk wetland forest with gardens, a spring-fed pond, and a bird sanctuary; volunteers use it for nature journaling, an annual fishing derby, and school fieldwork.

Saddle River County Park passes through the borough, where a six-mile bicycle and pedestrian path links five park areas between Ridgewood and Rochelle Park; the Glen Rock section adds a pond, tennis courts, playgrounds, picnic pavilions, and fishing. The municipal pool's 2026 schedule includes lap swimming, general swim, themed Wednesday evenings, and movie nights. At 315 Rock Road, the public library runs events for all ages; a grant-funded elevator project scheduled for completion in summer 2026 is intended to make its lower community room accessible. Gurudwara Singh Sabha maintains regular diwans, and its Khalsa School met on Sundays in 2025–2026 to teach Gurmukhi, Sikh history, and Gurbani.
