Glenburn, PA

Glenburn is a Lackawanna County census-designated place of 1,148 people at the 2020 census, located inside Glenburn Township north of Scranton. The community sits in the South Branch of Tunkhannock Creek valley, between Clarks Summit and Dalton, with Waterford Road and the U.S. 6/11 corridor handling daily traffic. It is part of the Abingtons suburban belt, but the creek, hills, and old trolley route give it a more particular map than a simple Scranton outpost.

The old Northern Electric Street Railway ran through Glenburn from 1908 to 1932, linking Scranton with Clarks Summit, Dalton, Lake Winola, and Montrose. Today, the Countryside Conservancy Trolley Trail reuses sections of that corridor for hiking and biking, with a trailhead near Ackerly Road and Waterford Road. Abington Heights School District serves Glenburn Township, and the township's municipal building, roads, pond creek, and hillside country fill in the local frame.
