Glenmont's most consequential piece of daily infrastructure is the Metro station at the northeastern end of the Red Line. The station combines rail service with nearly 3,000 all-day parking spaces, 68 metered spaces, bicycle racks and lockers, bus bays, and accessible entrances. Montgomery County's current network lists eight Ride On routes linking Glenmont with places such as Wheaton, Rockville, Shady Grove, Medical Center, Montgomery Mall, and Briggs Chaney. Ride On buses charge no fare, and the county's on-demand Flex service also includes a Glenmont zone. Together, those options make the station both a regional commute point and a local transfer center. A different kind of shared space sits along Randolph Road. The 21-acre Glenmont Park includes a playground, softball field, pedestrian bridge, and water fountain.

Glenmont had 16,710 residents in the 2020 census. Its 2020-2024 profile was notably international: 46 percent of residents were foreign-born, and 63 percent of people age five or older spoke a language other than English at home. Thirty-eight percent were Hispanic or Latino, 27 percent were Black, and 12 percent were Asian. Average household size was just over three people. Homeowners occupied 64 percent of homes, with a median owner-occupied value of $571,200 and median monthly mortgage-holder costs of $2,718; median gross rent was $2,028. Median household income was $126,542, and workers' mean travel time was about 34 minutes.
