About Glenvar

Glenvar is a Roanoke County CDP just west of Salem, centered along U.S. 11/460 in the western end of the valley. Glenvar High School gives the place a name people use beyond the CDP’s formal boundary, while the county’s Glenvar planning area reaches across the western valley toward Poor Mountain and Fort Lewis Mountain. The area also carries an industrial footnote: a Mack Trucks assembly plant was announced here in 2020. Glenvar is a road-and-school crossroads with Roanoke Valley geography attached.
