Gloucester Point, VA

Gloucester Point is a census-designated place on the north side of the York River in southeastern Virginia. English explorers Christopher Newport, John Smith, and Robert Tyndall reached the area in 1608, when it was known as Tyndall's Point before later becoming Gloucester Point. The community is home to William & Mary's Virginia Institute of Marine Science, giving it a strong research and coastal-science presence. Gloucester Point feels riverfront, historic, and quietly academic, with the Yorktown bridge and Chesapeake Bay waters close by.
