In the 2020 census, Golden Gate's 25,321 residents occupied slightly less than four square miles, a density of 6,484 per square mile. Golden Gate is an unincorporated census-designated community in Collier County, so several of its most visible public gathering places belong to countywide park, library, and transit systems rather than a municipal network of its own. Golden Gate Community Park concentrates an unusually broad set of daily recreation options in one site. Its aquatic complex has a heated competition-size pool, children's pools, two water slides, and diving boards; elsewhere are sports fields and courts, a dog park, bocce, a playground, a paved fitness trail, picnic pavilions, and a boat ramp. On Golden Gate Parkway, the county's community center runs after-school and summer programs and includes meeting rooms, a gym, kitchen, auditorium, band shell, and playground.

The same property contains Wheels Skate and BMX Park, where clinics, camps, and competitions make wheeled sports part of the youth program rather than simply an unsupervised facility. The Golden Gate branch of the Collier County Public Library extends that schedule indoors.
