About Golden Meadow
Golden Meadow sits along Bayou Lafourche in Lafourche Parish, at the lower end of the long line of settlements that follows the bayou toward the Gulf. The town’s early story is tied to fishing and agriculture; later, natural gas, sulfur, and offshore oil reshaped the work around it. LA 1 runs through town toward Port Fourchon, so Golden Meadow reads as both a bayou town and a staging point for the coast. It incorporated in 1950 after a local women’s club pushed the effort through four tries. The quick local read is water, seafood, oilfield work, and a town that faces south toward the Gulf.
