About Goldsboro

Goldsboro is a York County borough on the west bank of the Susquehanna, where the old crossing story is still part of the town’s identity. Nathan Hussey opened a ferry across the river from land that included present-day South Goldsboro and Cly, giving early settlers a route to the other side. The Goldsboro Historic District, listed in 1984, holds 79 contributing buildings from the central business and residential streets, most dating from 1850 to 1930. Even the mail has a local wrinkle: the post office is officially addressed as Etters, though there is no incorporated place by that name. Goldsboro is river geography, old houses, and a postal alias all in one borough.
