About Good Hope
Good Hope is a small Walton County town with an old frontier-town footprint and a surprisingly high share of historic houses. It was established around 1833 and chartered by Georgia in 1905, and much of its present feel comes from the homes that stayed put. Outside the short town grid, the landscape opens into fields, meadows, woods, and meandering creeks. Cyclists know it through rides such as BRAG and Tour de Oconee, which use the surrounding country roads. Good Hope's name carries its own little story too: local recollections tie it to the hope that hard times would turn. It is a rural Georgia place where old houses and open roads do most of the talking.
