About Goodfield

Goodfield began as Guthville, named for founder John Guth, when a railroad siding with stock pens was built here in 1888. The name changed to Goodfield the next year, but the rail-and-farm outline stayed. The village sits across Tazewell and Woodford counties, and the old siding has become a village with water, sewer, a CNH equipment plant, and the Busy Corner diner. Goodfield is a central Illinois place whose history is easy to miss if you only see the modern roads: start with Guth, add a railroad, and the village name makes sense.
