About Gorst

Gorst is a Kitsap County census-designated place at the head of Sinclair Inlet, where Gorst Creek reaches Puget Sound. Samuel and Mary Gorst settled here in 1897, and the family name displaced earlier labels such as Gorst Creek, Head of the Bay, and Butler. Today the place is a working roadside strip along State Route 3, with shops, auto dealerships, espresso stands, and a residential pocket west of the water. Gorst is a Washington community whose name and waterways both point back to the same inlet.
