About Gotham

Gotham is a census-designated place, in Buena Vista, in Richland County, Wisconsin, United States. The 2020 census counted 189 residents. Gotham is located at the intersection of Wisconsin Highway 60 and U.S. Route 14. Gotham is just north of the Wisconsin River, northeast of Avoca and southeast of Richland Center. Gotham's local map joins its older history to the places and landscapes that still shape the town today, all within the wider Wisconsin setting. The local scoop is how Gotham's history still shows up in the places people visit, work, learn, and meet. The name Gotham came from Captain Myron Wheeler Gotham, who once resided in the village. Gotham died with his sons, Lucius and Myron, during a violent storm in the Great Lakes in 1902.
