Granada, CO

Granada is a small, quiet farming community out on the plains of southeastern Colorado, set along Highway 50 and the historic Santa Fe Trail corridor. Home to around 450 residents, the town offers a classic rural lifestyle where wide-open skies, ranching, and agriculture define everyday living. Granada got its start in the 1870s as a railroad hub along Granada Creek, and it has maintained its tight-knit, welcoming character ever since. For prospective residents, it provides a very low-stress pace, affordable living, and easy highway access to nearby regional hubs like Lamar.

Local students attend Granada School, which brings kindergarten through twelfth grade together on a single campus. The town also shares a meaningful bond with Amache, the World War II Japanese American incarceration camp located just west of town, now recognized as a National Historic Site. In fact, local high school students and community members played a major role in preserving the site and curating the Amache Museum on Granada's main street.
