First settled by George Cassibry, the agricultural area is known for its commercial production of peaches and weather-hardy satsuma oranges. The community's business district stretches along U.S. Route 90, and the town is famous for hosting the annual Grand Bay Watermelon Festival, a July 4th tradition held continuously since 1973.
