Grand Lake Towne, OK

Grand Lake Towne is a small town in the northeastern corner of Mayes County, Oklahoma, built on a peninsula beside Grand Lake o' the Cherokees. Water wraps around the town to the north, east, and south, with Ketchum immediately beyond the northern edge. Langley is about six miles away by road to the southwest. That gives Grand Lake Towne a very particular local map: it is not merely near the lake; the lake is three sides of the town.

The town's modern story starts with the lake itself. Pensacola Dam was completed in 1940, creating Grand Lake and opening the shoreline to the residential development that became Grand Lake Towne. The town incorporated in 1961, and the 2020 census counted 80 residents. Ketchum Public Schools serves the community, while the town's utilities and emergency connections run through nearby Ketchum and Langley.
