Grand River, OH

Grand River is a Lake County village where the Grand River reaches Lake Erie, about 30 miles east of Cleveland. The 2020 census counted 394 residents. A post office has operated under the village’s name since 1890, and the river gives the place both its name and its physical orientation. Main Street and the riverfront are close enough that local restaurants, the community park, and boats all belong to the practical map. The lake also shapes the village’s horizon and working seasons.

Headlands Beach State Park lies beside the village, adding a long public shoreline to the community’s edge. The park, river, and Lake Erie place Grand River inside the broader northeast Ohio waterfront system, while the village itself remains compact. Grand River is also associated with Don Shula, the football coach who led the Miami Dolphins through the 1972 undefeated season. This is a small Ohio waterfront village whose name, recreation, local businesses, and civic history all radiate from the meeting of a river and the lake.
