About Grant Town

Grant Town is a quiet Marion County community of about 500 people, located in the hills just north of Fairmont. The town was founded in the early 1900s around the Federal No. 1 mine, which stood for decades as one of the largest and most productive underground coal operations in the country. Today, you can still see that deep working-class heritage in the historic homes and friendly neighborhood streets along Paw Paw Creek.
