Grass Valley, OR

Grass Valley sits in the wide-open wheat country of Sherman County in north-central Oregon. The town earned its name when early travelers found native grass growing taller than a rider on horseback, and that expansive, peaceful atmosphere still defines the area today. Originally established as a busy farming hub and railroad stop in the late 1800s, it has settled into a quiet community surrounded by rolling golden fields and big skies.

Community events often revolve around the historic 1916 Old Pavilion and Grass Valley City Park, where residents gather for local dances, auctions, and holiday celebrations. Students commute a few miles north to the county school in Moro, where you will also find daily services, while farming continues to anchor the local economy. Just east of town, Oregon Raceway Park adds a fun surprise to the landscape, drawing drivers and motorsports enthusiasts out to its 2.3-mile road course throughout the season.
