Graysville is a community in Turman Township, Sullivan County, Indiana. The U.S. Geological Survey’s place-name bulletin records that the village was named for Joe Gray, its founder. A Sullivan County scrapbook remembers Gray as a Graysville merchant who also operated a woolen mill at Big Spring. Indiana’s township records place the community within Turman Township, giving this small place a documented identity tied to one founder and an early local trade.
