Green Meadows, OR

Green Meadows is a small Umatilla County CDP along US 395, five miles south of Pendleton on the east side of the McKay Creek valley. McKay Creek runs north to the Umatilla River, and that river eventually reaches the Columbia; the geography gives the place a clear orientation even though it has no incorporated town center. Pendleton is the county seat and nearby service hub, while Green Meadows sits on the road between the city and the open county south of it.

Umatilla County’s map follows Lewis and Clark, Oregon Trail travel, and the later growth of ranching, farming, and Pendleton’s Round-Up. McKay Creek is not just a line on a map either: Pendleton has a community garden and McKay Creek Elementary, and county planning treats the creek corridor as part of the region’s water and hazard picture. Green Meadows is best understood in that same local way—a residential pocket beside a creek valley, linked by US 395 to Pendleton, county services, school routes, and the broader Umatilla River basin.
