About Green River

Green River is a city and the county seat of Sweetwater County, Wyoming, situated in the southwestern part of the state along the Green River. Platted in 1867 by the Union Pacific Railroad and incorporated in 1868, the community of approximately 11,600 grew as a key rail stop. Every June, the city hosts the Flaming Gorge Days festival, which draws visitors for outdoor sports, concerts, and family events.
