About Greenfield
Greenfield is the county seat of Hancock County, east of Indianapolis. Hancock County was created in 1828 and named for John Hancock, and Greenfield still has the feel of a county-seat city with a historic district, courthouse-centered identity, and schools serving the surrounding central county area. The Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation is a major local institution. Modern Greenfield mixes small-city Indiana roots with suburban growth along the I-70 corridor.
