Greenfield, MA

Greenfield is the county seat and only city of Franklin County, in western Massachusetts. It was named for the Green River and incorporated separately from Deerfield in 1753, giving it deep Connecticut River Valley roots. Greenfield Community College is a major local institution, and the city serves as a practical hub for the hill towns and farm country around it. Greenfield feels like a small New England city with courthouse functions, rail and river history, local shops, and a distinctly Franklin County sense of scale.
