Greenock, PA

Greenock is an Allegheny County census-designated place in Elizabeth Township, named after Greenock, Scotland. Its local map is unusually easy to count: two churches, a school, a volunteer fire company, two baseball fields, and two cemeteries. That list gives Greenock a clearer shape than the census label does, with the pieces of a community gathered in an unincorporated Pennsylvania place. The name also carries an Atlantic crossing in it, borrowed from a Scottish port.
