Greenville CDP (Greene County), NY

Greenville is a hamlet and census-designated place in the north-central part of the Town of Greenville, Greene County, with the Catskill Mountains rising to the south. The larger town was settled in 1774, established in 1803, and named Greenville in 1808; its roads still follow old creeks, water-power sites, turnpikes, and routes connecting population clusters. Routes 32 and 81 now carry that through-traffic, while the library's community room hosts the local history group during its regular season. The town's rural landscape reflects more than two centuries of agriculture, with boarding-house-era buildings and newer homes layered onto the older road pattern. Greenville's CDP is the named hamlet within that wider Catskill foothill landscape.
