About Grimes

Grimes is a growing Dallas and Polk County city in the Des Moines metro area. It was founded in 1881 and incorporated in 1894, but its modern story is mostly one of suburban growth northwest of Des Moines. Water Works Park is one of its main local parks, and the city has built out a network of neighborhood green space as it has expanded. Grimes feels like a practical, family-oriented suburb with older small-town bones and quick access to metro jobs.
