Grottoes, VA

Set between the Blue Ridge foothills and the South Fork of the Shenandoah River, Grottoes is a quiet, small-town community of around 3,000 residents. The town is famous for Grand Caverns, the country's oldest continuously operating show cave, which draws visitors for easy walking tours through towering limestone formations. With sweeping mountain views from almost every road, it offers a peaceful rural feel and plenty of scenic valley charm.

For everyday recreation, Grand Caverns Park and Mountain View Park provide river access for fishing and kayaking, along with paved walking paths, playgrounds, and picnic shelters for community events. Most local students attend Rockingham County Public Schools, starting at South River Elementary right in town. Grottoes also sits in an easy commuting triangle between Harrisonburg, Staunton, and Waynesboro, giving residents quick access to regional hospitals, universities, retail centers, and dining.
