About Grove City
Grove City is a Meeker County city on the Middle Fork of the Crow River. Its early growth followed the railroad and post office: the St. Paul and Pacific Railway reached Acton Township in 1870, with Acton Station two miles east, while a post office called Swede Grove sat north of the present city. The 2020 census counted 624 residents.
U.S. Highway 12 and Minnesota State Highway 4 pass along the north side on Atlantic Avenue, and the ACGC school campus on Minnesota 4 brings students from Atwater, Cosmos, and Grove City together. Windmill Park has a nature trail, campground, and picnic shelter, while the city community center and gym host gatherings and council meetings. That gives Grove City a practical present-day map: a highway edge, a shared regional school, a park-based recreation system, and a city center whose earlier history grew from rail and postal connections. The city retains the name of Swede Grove in its origin story while its current institutions reach across three communities.
