About Guadalupe
Guadalupe is a small Santa Barbara County city near the Santa Maria River and the dunes along the Central Coast. The Portola expedition camped near present-day Guadalupe in 1769, but the modern city is strongly tied to agriculture, especially the surrounding Santa Maria Valley fields. The historic Royal Theater is one of its recognizable local landmarks. Guadalupe has a working-town feel, with farm labor, coastal fog, older downtown blocks, and quick access to the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes all shaping the place.
