About Guntersville

Guntersville is the county seat of Marshall County and one of Alabama's strongest lake towns. It sits on Guntersville Lake, the state's largest lake, at a dramatic bend in the Tennessee River, and bass fishing is central enough that the Bassmaster Classic has been held there. The city was founded by John Gunter, an ancestor of Will Rogers. Between the lake, the schools, the county-seat role, and its small downtown, Guntersville feels both outdoorsy and civic.
