The five-acre Haʻikū Park and Community Center brings several public uses onto one North Shore site. Open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., it includes a social hall and kitchen, a youth learning center, a public-health nurse office, police offices, a covered basketball court, baseball and soccer fields, a playground, restrooms, and two hours of free Wi-Fi per device. Part of the center is maintained by the Boys & Girls Club of Maui. The County's Maui Bus system serves Haiku, and a daily Haiku-Wailea commuter route links the area with Central and South Maui for a $2 one-way fare. Together, the center and transit stop function as practical infrastructure for organized sports, youth programs, meetings, health access, and island-wide work trips rather than as visitor attractions. In the Bureau's 2020-2024 profile, the average household size was 2.75 and 66.6 percent of occupied homes were owner-occupied.

Housing costs were substantial: the median owner-occupied value was $1,093,800, median monthly owner costs with a mortgage were $3,182, and median gross rent was $2,538. Median household income was $101,396, while workers' mean travel time was 32.2 minutes. The same estimates found that 30.9 percent of residents identified with two or more races, 12.9 percent were foreign-born, and 17.3 percent of people age five or older spoke a language other than English at home. Those household and identity measures describe a community more varied than the two-name Census label suggests. They also put the county park and bus route in context: shared facilities and regional transportation serve residents facing seven-figure home values and work trips averaging more than half an hour.
