About Haleyville
Haleyville is a historic city in Winston and Marion counties, Alabama, situated on the Tennessee Valley Divide. Originally founded as Davis Cross Roads at a rail junction, the town incorporated in 1889. Haleyville holds a unique place in national history as the site where the first 9-1-1 emergency telephone call was placed in 1968, and it is also where the Guthrie's restaurant chain was founded in 1965. Today, the community of over four thousand residents operates its own school system, including the Haleyville Center of Technology.
