About Halls
Halls is a Lauderdale County town founded as a railroad stop in 1882 and named for Hansford R. Hall, one of its founders. The Newport News & Mississippi Valley Railroad brought the first townsite, and by 1899 Halls had a bank; a telephone line followed in 1900, connecting the new town with county seat Ripley. The Veterans’ Museum on the former Dyersburg Army Air Base grounds adds a military chapter to the local map. Halls is a Tennessee railroad town with a museum, a phone line, and a long memory of its first tracks.
