Halstead, KS

Halstead is a quiet town of about 2,200 people along the Little Arkansas River in Harvey County, roughly ten minutes west of Newton and an easy thirty-minute drive from Wichita. Founded in the 1870s by Mennonite settlers who helped establish Kansas wheat farming, the town holds onto its agricultural heritage while offering a comfortable, low-stress environment for families and commuters.

Everyday life revolves around the local Halstead-Bentley schools, neighborhood parks, and a compact downtown district with essential shops and services. Residents spend time outdoors along the tree-lined river paths and at the municipal pool, golf course, and Riverside Park.
