About Hamburg

Hamburg is Ashley County's seat in southeast Arkansas, established in 1849 and still built around the courthouse-and-square rhythm of a county town. The downtown gazebo becomes the center of the Armadillo Festival each May, a tradition running since 1970. The town also claims a surprisingly wide hometown roll call: Charles Portis, Scottie Pippen, PBR rider Chase Outlaw, and Miss Teen USA Stevie Perry all show up in the local introductions. Agriculture, timber, trucking, cotton, rice, and soybeans fill out the working backdrop. Hamburg is the Delta edge in a courthouse-and-armadillo-festival story.
