About Hamilton
Hamilton was platted in 1882 when the railroad reached Pembina County, and many early settlers came from Hamilton, Ontario. The city now sits along North Dakota Highway 5 about 10 miles west of Interstate 29, in the Red River Valley's farm country. Pembina County describes the community's roots as largely Norwegian and German and identifies Hamilton as home of the Pembina County Fair, billed as the Biggest Little Fair in North Dakota. A bank and a bar serving food are among the county-listed local services.
