About Hampton

Hampton is a Seacoast New Hampshire town best known for Hampton Beach, one of the state's classic summer destinations. Before that resort identity, Hampton was called the Plantation of Winnacunnet and became one of the four original New Hampshire townships chartered by the General Court of Massachusetts. The town balances older New England settlement history with beach traffic, seasonal rentals, schools, marshland, and commuter access along the coast between Portsmouth and the Massachusetts line.
