About Hamtramck
Hamtramck is a small Wayne County city almost surrounded by Detroit, with one of the most distinctive urban cultures in Michigan. It began as a German farming settlement, then became strongly Polish as workers arrived for the Dodge Brothers plant, and later grew into a famously diverse immigrant city. Detroit City FC and the Hamtramck Historical Museum are part of its modern local fabric. Hamtramck feels dense, compact, loud, and layered, with bakeries, mosques, bars, houses, and factory history packed into two square miles.
