About Hansen
Hansen is a Twin Falls County city whose first map was drawn by freight routes. Travelers moving through southern Idaho used the Oregon Trail and Kelton Road, and the settlement that became Hansen grew around those lines before the town was platted in 1905. The name honors John Hansen, a Danish immigrant, settler, and merchant who became a civic figure in nearby Rock Creek. Irrigation projects were spreading across the Magic Valley at the same time, giving the new town a place in the agricultural geography of southern Idaho. Hansen is still a small Twin Falls-area city, but its local story starts with the roads and supply routes that came before the paved grid.
